"Alice Through the Looking Glass" is an adventure fantasy family film, directed by James Bobin, written by Linda Woolverton, and loosely based on "Through the Looking-Glass" by Lewis Carroll. It's the sequel to "Alice in Wonderland", which tells the story of grown up Alice who returns to her Wonderland in order to travel in time and save the Mad Hatter.

  • Matt Vogel and Toby Jones as Wilkins, Time's long-suffering manservant

To start with, I'm not a big fan of "Alice in Wonderland" which is (let's be honest) not a masterpiece. So I was quite surprised when I heard about the sequel (thanks to the box office of the first part) thinking: "Probably, it's just not a good idea?"

And yes, my inner voice turned out right: "Alice Through the Looking Glass" looks like a worthless afterparty. If the first part is at least beautifully captivating (as it was Tim Burton), the second part attracts attention with... good old characters who play a role of frontage. Unfortunately, even it doesn't save the situation as now it becomes just uninteresting. Something wrong but not in a good way almost with everyone: Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter isn't fascinating anymore, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen don't look either like enemies or like relatives, Mia Wasikowska as Alice Kingsleigh again has weird words, but okay, it's her character's imagined world. And in fact the main advantage of the film is Sacha Baron Cohen who gives a wonderful performance - both dramatic and comedic. Frankly speaking, his Time is almost the only reason to watch this movie.

I don't feel the need to say anything more because it's evident that sincerely "Alice Through the Looking Glass" didn't turn out a good film. No good plot, no exciting twists, no real madness... In short - nothing special. And that's all.
