"Eden Lake" is a horror thriller film written and directed by James Watkins. The story is about Jenny and Steve who decides to escape their everyday life to an idyllic remote lake in the green English countryside. But they even can't imagine how their weekends will end...
- Kelly Reilly as Jenny
- Michael Fassbender as Steve
- Jack O'Connell as Brett
- James Gandhi as Adam
- Thomas Turgoose as Cooper
- Bronson Webb as Reece
- Shaun Dooley as Jon
- Finn Atkins as Paige
- Thomas Gill as Ricky
- James Burrows as Harry
- Mega Yoedsoel as Hip Hop
The director of the film, James Watkins, is more known for "The Woman in Black" (2012). But exactly his "Eden Lake" make a great impact on me: so cruel and so hard-nosed at the same time that scares me most of all.
I've heard about Michael Fassbender but, strangely enough, I haven't seen any film including him before. His tragic role in "Eden Lake" startled me, I have no words. And I can say the same about Kelly Reilly - their dramatic performances are worthy. As for Jack O'Connell, who is noted for James Cook from "Skins", slightly reminds me his serial character. But Brett is an absolutely insane teenager.
Strangenesses
Advantages
- Kelly Reilly as Jenny
- Michael Fassbender as Steve
- Jack O'Connell as Brett
Disadvantages
- Too much violence
Strangenesses
- Why teenagers pursue the couple? For no particular reason?
Clue Moments
- The car
- Subjecting to torture
- Parents
The film turned out difficult for me. I'm sure there are children like Brett and his company that frightens me very much. And what does this aggressive behaviour depend on? On personal equation, circumstances but above all on family upbringing. What are parents like, so do the kids. If parents aren't better that their children, about what it's possible to talk?
