Yeah, finally, the wait is over: now both DC fans and the rest of the world can watch "Suicide Squad", the film that shows great promise to save DC Extended Universe. So, does it live up to expectations? Marketing stunts had been giving goosebumps all over again and again for a year, but critics didn't say almost anything good the day before the premiere. Who turns out right? Let's choose the side.

Bad or good? In my opinion, "Suicide Squad" is bad in a good way. Of course, it isn't without disadvantages, but I must admit that every new DC movie hasn't become worse than the previous one so far. And "Suicide Squad" isn't an exception.

First things that look flashy are the insanely beautiful style and acid colors (like we ever doubted it): the opening credits are an individual piece of comics art as well as the closing credits after enjoying which there's one more scene - so don't miss Amanda and Bruce's dialogue.

As for the madness, it starts from the very beginning: Amanda Waller, a government official, tries to persuade her colleagues that supervillains can be used as new heroes. Crazy enough, huh? And yes, she gets permission. This way Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang, El Diablo, Killer Croc and Slipknot (who disappears fast) become a team, a squad against... (here goes the main plot hole of the film) something. However the key antagonist turns two-faced June Moone who is uncontrollably obsessed with Enchantress. A feral witch decides to liberate her brother and together become the gods of the new world. Primitively? Main vices will have always been a strong motivation, no surprise. Therefore the squad of antiheroes joins battle along the way they kill monsters, sacrifice themselves, think about life and reminisce.

The film that has so many famous characters risks to forget about some of them. Unfortunately, "Suicide Squad" made this mistake. If you're waiting for Joker, here comes a little disappointment: he isn't one of the main antihero. Sad face. But the scenes with him and especially with his queen Harley are truly breathtaking. And as for Jared Leto who portrays the Joker, I find his performance head-spinning. In fairness, I need to say I adore Heath Ledger's vision of this character. But don't forget that in comics there are many universes, that's why different variations of the Joker are possible.

Alright, the Joker doesn't have much screen time in contrast to mad Harley Quinn played by amazing Margot Robbie. There are many her flashbacks which make a viewer understand her character better: her obsession with Puddin', her dreams and her craziness. As for other antiheroes, I suddenly fell in love with Deadshot performed by Will Smith. Floyd's serious face and his marksmanship hide his heart of gold. I mean, seriously: like Harley is dreaming about a married life, Deadshot is looking for the respect from his daughter. And that's what makes him an antihero, not a villain.

Boomerang, El Diablo, Katana and Killer Croc are more than just interesting characters but after watching "Suicide Squad" it isn't possible to say anything more certain, and that makes me sad. And this fact proves that there's a need for solo films.

Cara Delevingne's Enchantress, an unexpected villain instead of an antihero, turns out really frightening and horrible because of her inability to control herself and spontaneity, and that's great. Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller are also not supporting characters: they're with the squad and they help to see the difference (or see its lack) between normal (according to the society) people and supervillains.

I also must note the soundtracks which I want to listen over and over and over, because "pleased to meet you, hope you guess my name'' and "all my friends are heathens, take it slow".

And no, it's not the end as I must mention the biggest disadvantage - where's the main idea of the film? Okay, let's make a team for... em... let's just do it, it will be funny. And what they will do? Hm... let them catch their teammate. Well, I need to be honest: yes, generally I liked the film but I can't call it a real must-see for not DC fans. Visual effects are charming and probably exactly they had to cover all plot holes and trivial dialogues.
