I read "The Martian" by Andy Weir last spring and when I heard about the filming screen version my curiosity became excited. So what is my opinion after coming home from the cinema?
To my fan mind, the film turned out a masterpiece with beautiful views, good music, fascinating acting and events which motivates to do something after watching. But if I need to say anything more serious, I'll try.
First of all, some words about Ridley Scott: not all his films are a real must-see but this one is so splendid and gorgeous that not watching it will be a shame. Why? There are some reasons, anyway.
I don't remember I've ever seen anything with Matt Damon (surprisingly) however his Mark Watney made me want to improve my omission: an incurable optimist who tries to survive with the help of humour and knowledge keeps a viewer worrying about his future during the whole film. But my main star because of who I went to the cinema was Jessica Chastain - her acting turned out as good as always and her appearance looked as excellent as usual.
As for disadvantages, the picture may seem a little bit slow moving and boring as there are not many actually action scenes: the desert planet and the process of solving problems in NASA don't seem like an orbital shot.

To sum up, "The Martian" isn't about cosmic problems (strangely enough it may sounds), it pays attention to a human who must rely only on himself or herself but needn't to forget about other people who are able to take care and help in a difficult situation.

Do you think you may survive on the uninhabited planet with no water? Being Robinson Crusoe has always seemed like a real trial which may check your surviving skills. It's fascinating to imagine but really hard to make it true.
But what about other people? Relatives, friends, colleagues? I know that not every person may help someone except himself however I want to believe there are more people who can care about others.

Mark Watney: I'm gonna have to science the sh*t out of this.

Mark Watney: Every human being has a basic instinct: to help each other out. If a hiker gets lost in the mountains, people will coordinate a search. If a train crashes, people will line up to give blood. If an earthquake levels a city, people all over the world will send emergency supplies. This is so fundamentally human that it's found in every culture without exception. Yes, there are a**holes who just don't care, but they're massively outnumbered by the people who do.

Mark Watney: Hi, I'm Mark Watney and I'm still alive... obviously.

Mark Watney: They say once you grow crops somewhere, you have officially colonized it. So, technically, I colonized Mars. In your face, Neil Armstrong!

Mark Watney: I don't want to come off as arrogant here, but I'm the best botanist on the planet.

Teddy Sanders: If we are going to have a secret project called "Elrond", then I want my code name to be "Glorfindel".
* * *
Mark Watney: I admit it's fatally dangerous, but I'd get to fly around like Iron Man.
* * *
Mark Watney: F*ck you Mars.

Mark Watney: If I want water, I'll have to make it from scratch. Fortunately, I know the recipe: Take hydrogen. Add oxygen. Burn.

Mark Watney: Tell Commander Lewis, disco sucks.

Mark Watney: Technically, Mars is international waters, meaning Maritime Law applies. And since I am illegally commandeering a vessel in international water under maritime law, that makes me a pirate. Mark Watney : Space Pirate

Mark Watney: If the oxygenator breaks down, I'll suffocate. If the water reclaimer breaks down, I'll die of thirst. If the Hab beaches, I'll just kind of explode. If none of those things happen. I'll eventually run out of food and starve to death. So yeah. I'm f*cked.

Rich Purnell: I'm gonna need more coffee
