Well, well, well, what do we have here? Awesome music, bright colors, a lot of jokes (not all of them are good but who cares), weird characters in development... What else is necessary to give yourself a break and just have fun watching one of the most expected film?

This time the Guardians find not only new enemies but also Peter's true father who turns out to be one of the god-like Celestials, simply put, a planet. And of course it isn't as easy as it seams at first glance, in the spirit of Star Wars.

As I already said/wrote, the characters become different as they have changed from the first film - I can't help but be encouraged. Star-Lord played by charming Chris Pratt begins to finally grow up and think about the generation gap listening to Cat Stevens' "Father And Son": Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker) or Ego (Kurt Russell), who is his Darth Vader? Wait till the end to find out. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and her frenemy Nebula (Karen Gillan) also try to break the ice, and there even appears some silver linings. Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) seems more emotional and less stone-cold, Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) is the sweetest masterpiece while Rocket (Bradley Cooper) is still the most explosive thing of the two films. We also can meet more new characters: clumsy Mantis (Pom Klementieff), snobbish Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) and stern Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone). This motley company will be entertaining you for more than two hours, so get ready - you will like it!

To sum up, the film is not worse than the first part. Probably there are less action scenes and more "let's talk about it" things but they help to get to know characters better, admit it. However don't hurry to worry, you will see much fun to the good music and hear enough sarcastic jokes to make the movie less pretentious. And don't forget that even heroes in comics can die, as much as that saddens me... But the Universe can't stay still, can it?

Quotations
* * *
[Yondu is floating in the air, hanging on his arrow]
Peter Quill: You're like Mary Poppins.
Yondu: Was he cool?
[pause]
Peter Quill: Damn right he was cool.
Yondu: I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!
* * *
Mantis: It's beautiful.
Drax: So are you.
[adds]
Drax: On the inside.
* * *
Drax: There are two types of beings in the universe: those who dance, and those who do not.
Peter Quill: I get it, yes. I am a dancer, Gamora is not.
Drax: You need to find a woman who's pathetic, like you.
* * *
Peter Quill: Sometimes, the thing you've been looking for your whole life is right there beside you all along.
Drax: [next to Peter] You're right!
* * *
Baby Groot: I am Groot.
Yondu: What's that?
Rocket: He says, "Welcome to the frickin' Guardians of the Galaxy!" Only he didn't use "frickin'".
* * *
Yondu: He may have been your father, Quill, but he wasn't your daddy.
* * *
Peter Quill: You shouldn't have killed my mom and squished my Walkman!
* * *
Rocket: The fate of the universe lies on your shoulders. Now whatever you do, don't push this button 'cause that will set off the bomb immediately and we will all be dead! Now repeat back what I just said.
Groot: I am Groot.
Rocket: NO! That is the button that will kill everyone! Try again!
Groot: I am Groot!
Rocket: Uh-huh.
Groot: I am Groot!
Rocket: Uh-huh!
Groot: I am Groot!
Rocket: NO!
* * *
Mantis: When I touch someone I can feel their feelings.
[touches Quill's hand]
Mantis: You feel... love!
Peter Quill: Yeah, I guess - Yeah, I feel a general unselfish love for everyone.
Mantis: No. *Sexual* love...
Peter Quill: No. No, I don't.
Mantis: [points at Gamora] ... for her!
Peter Quill: No!
[Drax begins laughing hysterically]
Drax: She just told everyone you deepest, darkest secret!
[Drax continues laughing]
Peter Quill: Dude! Come on! I think you're reacting a little bit!
Drax: You must be so embarrassed!
[continues cracking up]
Drax: Do me! Do me! Do me!
* * *
Peter Quill: What's that?
Kraglin: It's a Zune; everybody on Earth listens to it nowadays.
* * *
Nebula: [sneering] Look at you, a Garden of the Galaxy!
Gamora: It's Guardian! Why would I be a Garden of the Galaxy?
[Drax laughs]
* * *
Gamora: [in gunfight] Groot! Get out of the way, you're gonna get hurt!
[Groot waves at her]
Gamora: [beaming] Hi!
[keeps firing]
* * *
Rocket: Are we really saving the galaxy, again?
Peter Quill: Yeah.
Rocket: Great! We can jack up our prices if we're two-time galaxy savers!
* * *
Gamora: Maybe this man could be your David Hasselhoff.
* * *
Drax: The beast's hide is too thick to be pierced on the outside... Then I must cut through it from the inside!
[charges at the monster, and gets eaten]
* * *
Nebula: [to Gamora] All you do is yell at each other. You're not friends.
Drax: No... We are family.
* * *
Kraglin: I didn't mean to do a mutiny, but they killed all my friends.
* * *
Gamora: Can we put the bickering on hold till AFTER we survive the massive space battle?
* * *
