"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a superhero action adventure film directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio, David S. Goyer. It's a follow-up to "Man of Steel" and the second installment in the DC Extended Universe. The story is about Superman and Batman who must set aside their differences along with Wonder Woman in order to stop Lex Luthor and Doomsday from destroying Metropolis.

Cast
  • Henry Cavill as Kal-El / Clark Kent / Superman
  • Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne / Batman
  • Amy Adams as Lois Lane
  • Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor
  • Diane Lane as Martha Kent
  • Laurence Fishburne as Perry White
  • Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth
  • Holly Hunter as Finch
  • Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman
  • Robin Atkin Downes as Doomsday

Without doubt "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was the most expected DC Comics film of the first of 2016 (as we also have the premiere of "Suicide Squad" in August). And what? Was it worth three years of waiting? Here is my opinion, spoiler alert.

First of all, I want to start with the actors and their characters, especially with my own winner in Batman-v-Superman-War-Fight - Kal-El. Almost everyone says something like "he's a boring and not developing hero", and yes, I can partly agree with it but it's necessary to face the truth: he's an alien, a god, he tries to do it right, be a hope and he just can't do it otherwise. So it isn't Henry Cavill's fault that Superman is so faithful.

As for new Batman portrayed by Ben Affleck, I was surprised because before the film I hadn't seen him as Bruce Wayne. However, I must admit I liked the new portrait - still not as much as Christian Bale's one but that's the first Affleck's appearance therefore it's too early to draw conclusions.

Amy Adams as Lois Lane, a brave Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, looks addled at times but remember she's only human (neither a god nor a hero in a suit), this way her behaviour is understandable - Lois simply doesn't know from time to time what to do.

Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor seemed like a discrepant character throughout: his story didn't correspond to any of the fictional DC universes (Lex have never been shaved in jail) and he acted more like rich Joker. But frankly speaking, it was putting out and charming for more than two hours.

As for other characters, Laurence Fishburne as eccentric Perry White, Jeremy Irons as wise Alfred Pennyworth, Gal Gadot as wonderful Diana Prince brought something their own that made the picture completed. And no, I didn't forget: brief appearances of  Barry Allen, Arthur Curry, Victor Stone looked like a comical but intriguing pretension for the future.

And now some words about the film in general. No, unfortunately, it didn't turn out an unmitigated success and yes, it had disadvantages like several too "stone" scenes, some problems with realistic special effects and cartoon Doomsday, however it doesn't mean that "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was a terrible nightmare. Lots of Easter eggs, quite good acting, beautiful visual effects, not stupid dialogues - what else do you want from a superhero movie? Of course, fights and detonation; I assure you will get them but probably not as much as you can imagine.

To sum up, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" isn't a masterpiece but also not a disaster. This way, I know exactly two things: I accepted the film as a DC Comics fan who had been waiting for it for three years and I can certainly recommend DC fans, who can understand why the situation "save Martha" a.k.a. "our mothers have/had the same name" isn't absurd, to watch it.

And the biggest spoiler of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is the death of Superman but in contrast to the death of Han Solo in "Star Wars. Episode VII: The Force Awakens" Kal-El will come back.

Quotations
* * *
Alfred: That's how it starts. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men... cruel.
* * *
Bruce Wayne: Twenty years in Gotham. How many good guys are left? How many stay that way?
* * *
Clark Kent: Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city; people living in fear. He thinks he's above the law.
Bruce Wayne: The Daily Planet criticizing those who think they're above the law is a little hypocritical, wouldn't you say? Considering every time your hero saves a cat out of a tree, you write a puff piece editorial about an alien that could burn the whole place down.
Clark Kent: Most of the world doesn't share your opinion, Mr. Wayne.
Bruce Wayne: Maybe it's that Gotham City and me... We just have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns.
* * *
Lex Luthor: We know better now, don't we? Devils don't come from hell beneath us. They come from the sky.
* * *
Clark Kent: This bat vigilante... He's like a one man reign of terror.
Perry White: Nobody cares about Clark Kent taking on the Batman.
* * *
Batman: Twenty years in Gotham. How many good guys are left? How many stayed that way? He has the power to wipe out the entire human race. I have to destroy him.
* * *
Batman: It's time you learned what it means to be a man.
Superman: Stay down! If I wanted it, you'd be dead already!
* * *
Lex Luthor: If man won't kill God, the Devil will do it!
* * *
Lois Lane: [touches the S shield] This means something. It's all some people have, it's all that gives them hope.
* * *
Superman: Next time they shine your light in the sky, don't go to it. The Bat is dead. Bury it. Consider this mercy.
[Superman begins to walk away]
Batman: Tell me. Do you bleed?
[Superman flies away as Batman watches on]
Batman: You will.
* * *
Superman: [about Wonder Woman] She with you?
Batman: I thought she was with you.
* * *
Alfred: [on Superman] He is NOT our enemy!
* * *
Clark Kent: Mr. Wayne! Clark Kent, Daily Planet. What's your position on the bat vigilante in Gotham?
* * *
Bruce Wayne: [after disposing two dozen goons as Batman] I'm getting slow in my old age, Alfred.
Alfred: Even you've got too old to die young, not for lack of trying.
* * *
Bruce Wayne: I've known a few women like you.
Diana Prince: I don't think you've ever known a woman like me.
* * *
Lois Lane: You're psychotic.
Lex Luthor: That is a three syllable word for any thought too big for little minds.
* * *
Lex Luthor: And now, you will fly to him, and you will battle him to the death. Black and blue. Fight night. The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world. God versus man. Day versus night! Son of Krypton versus Bat of Gotham!
* * *
Perry White: You don't get to decide what the right thing is!
* * *
Bruce Wayne: He has the power to wipe out the entire human race and if we believe there is even a one percent chance that he is our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty.
* * *
US Senator: Let the record show that this committee holds him responsible...
* * *
Diana Prince: You know, it's true what they say about little boys: born with no natural inclination to share.
* * *
Lex Luthor: The Red Capes are coming! The Red Capes are coming!
* * *
Batman: You're not brave. Men are brave.
* * *
Martha Kent: Be their hero, Clark. Be their angel, be their monument, be anything they need you to be... or be none of it. You don't owe this world a thing. You never did.
* * *
Superman: [Enters from the sky]
Batman: Well, here I am!
* * *
Lex Luthor: Boys! Mmm! Bruce Wayne meets Clark Kent. Ha! I love it! I love bringing people together! How are we?
* * *
Lex Luthor: Thanks to LexCorp's substantial contribution, Metropolis is now opened for business again.
* * *
Batman: That son of a bitch brought the war to us!
