Tim Burton has always turned all my dreams in reality: something dark and kind at the same time. Therefore I actually want to rewatch his pictures and "Edward Scissorhands" isn't the exception. Danny Elfman's music line was on a high level as always. Johnny Depp in role of Edward was hardly recognisable for me but it didn't hinder me from his talented and laconic acting. Winona Ryder's Kim impressed me less.

Advantages
  • Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorhands
  • Winona Ryder as Kim Boggs
  • The idea
  • The plot

Disadvantages
  • Too simple? But sincere

"Strangenesses"
  • Beauty isn't just outside

Clue Moments
  • Colours

A man, who doesn't seem normal and attractive, may be someone else. Someone else with a big heart - like Edward. He knows that he's different but it doesn't stop him to do what he does the best: to work with scissors and change the world. Despite the fact, that almost everyone see him as a maniac with... arms. Unfortunately, people have always believed more in bad than in good and that leads to the end of the genius.

Green, yellow, red, blue, purple - the whole world is full of different colours. Everything is bright, except Edward and his house. But it doesn't to him: he creates beautiful things in contrast to people in variegated clothes who are keen on gossip.

Quotations
* * *
Kim: You see, before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. If he weren't up there now... I don't think it would be snowing. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it.
* * *
Bill: Sweetheart, you can't buy the necessities of life with cookies.
* * *
Edward: Kevin, you wanna play scissors, paper, stone again?
Kevin: No!
Edward: Why not?
Kevin: 'Cause it's boring. I always win!
* * *
Peg Boggs: My, those are your hands? Those are your hands! What happened to you? Where are your parents? Um... Your mother? Your father?
Edward: He didn't wake up.
Peg Boggs: Are you alone? Do you live up here all by yourself? What happened to your face? No, I won't hurt you. But at the very least, let me give you a good astringent. And this will help to prevent infection. What's your name?
Edward: Edward.
Peg Boggs: Edward... I think you should just come home with me.
* * *
Officer Allen: We're looking for the man with the hands.
* * *
Esmerelda: It's not heaven he's from! It's straight from the stinking flames of hell! The power of Satan is in him, I can feel it. Can't you? Have you poor sheep strayed so far from the path?
Edward: We're not sheep.
Esmerelda: Don't come near me!
* * *
Jim: Forget about holding her hand, man. Think about the damage he could do to other places.
* * *
Jim: I'd give my left nut to see that again.
* * *
Neighbors: Hi.
Joyce: You all are hiding in there like a bunch of old hermit crabs.
* * *
Joyce: All along I felt in my gut there was something wrong with him.
* * *
Kim: [finishes her story to her granddaughter] She never saw him again. Not after that night.
Granddaughter: How do you know?
Kim: [takes off her glasses revealing herself] Because I was there.
Granddaughter: You could've gone up there, you still could go.
Kim: No, sweetheart. I'm an old woman now. I would rather have him remember me the way I was.
