"Violet & Daisy" is an action comedy drama crime film written, produced, and directed by Geoffrey S. Fletcher. It tells the story of two girls, Daisy and Violet, and their surreal and violent journey through New York City as a contract killers. They always cope very well with their work. But one day, Violet and Daisy meet an unusually mysterious man named Michael. He's their next target. However, things get complicated as this initially easy hit becomes a life-altering encounter.

Cast
  • Saoirse Ronan as Daisy
  • Alexis Bledel as Violet
  • James Gandolfini as Michael
  • Marianne Jean-Baptiste as Iris
  • Danny Trejo as Russ
  • Lynda Gravatt as Dolores
  • Tatiana Maslany as April
  • Cody Horn as Barbie Sunday

The director of the film, Geoffrey Shawn Fletcher, is more known as a screenwriter whose work is "Precious: Based on the Novel "Push" by Sapphire". He received an Oscar for "Best Adapted Screenplay" from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. As for "Violet & Daisy", it seems like Tarantino's film. But if I consider it as self-dependent movie, it surprised me. It belongs to my favourite films: a little crazy, a little cruel, a little funny, and a little tragic. Therefore my review is positive.

Saoirse Ronan as Daisy turned out naive and kind. She believes her partner and don't kill people in fact. Violet performed by Alexis Bledel - a purposeful and violent girl. She's full of secrets which she doesn't want to tell someone. A character of James Gandolfini is Michael. He has a personal tragedy so he has nothing to lose. This way Michael makes up his mind to frantic gestures. Danny Trejo as Russ didn't amaze me. His role of the bad guy is pretty small. Moreover, almost all of his parts ate antagonists and Russ isn't an exception.

Advantages
  • Saoirse Ronan as Daisy
  • Alexis Bledel as Violet

Disadvantages
  • The effort to make something similar to Tarantino's work

"Strangenesses"
  • The last role of James Gandolfini

Clue Moments
  • Milk

Every villain has a tragedy. They play with lives of others, destroy them. Villains wants to make people feel what they feel - pain. However, some of them even want to die. This way actions depend on experience and thoughts and it's wrong to condemn people ignoring their fates.

But proceeding define a character. I mean if a person kill someone, he or she is a killer. However, if a person fires blank, he or she isn't a murderer in fact.

It's interesting that in most cases we don't know who we call a friend. But it often doesn't count. It's strange, isn't it? However, maybe it's for the best. When the past and different faults don't break relationships and people trust each other - isn't it a friendship?

Quotations
* * *
Daisy: Who's rose?
Violet: My old partner?
Daisy: I thought I was your only...
Violet: Sorry Daiz.
Daisy: Well, what happened to her?
Violet: She died.
Daisy: How?
Violet: Got shot.
Daisy: How?
Violet: The usual way. Somebody pointed a gun at her and pulled the trigger.
* * *
Michael: Is this an interview or a hit?
Violet: Whatever man.
Violet: You got any more cookies?
* * *
Iris: Do you know what I wanted to be when I was your age?
Daisy: [no]
Iris: I don't either. I like you, kid. You're in over your head, and you're scared, and yet you look death in the eye without blinking. It's admirable, but it won't save you. It won't save your partner. And it won't save your new pal.
* * *
Daisy: My partner weighs in at about 95 pounds, right? And together you guys weigh are pushin', like, half a ton, give or take, correct? So, did you need much help stuffing her in that garbage can?
* * *
Daisy: [sits back, hands behind her head] Now I usually don't talk to people like you in the first place. But if I did that sort of thing, I would say that you girls should have a TV show. And that they should call that program, "The Adventures of Donnie's Bitches". But like I said at the top, I usually don't talk to people like you. Because talking to people like you doesn't make much sense.
Man #1: What do you mean, people like us? What the hell kind of people are we?
Daisy: Dead ones.
Man #1: [laughs] What?
* * *
Daisy: You just missed her.
Violet: Daiz?
Daisy: She just left.
Violet: Who?
Daisy: Rose.
Violet: Was she alive?
Daisy: I don't know. But she asked about you.
Violet: What did she say?
Daisy: She said, I'm looking for your partner. Those were her exact words.
Violet: Is that all she said?
Daisy: No. She said that Rose's were dead, and Violet's were too.
* * *
Daisy: If we were rich and didn't have to kill him, we could pay him just to make those cookies for us all the time.
Violet: Hell, what if the cookies are just the tip of the iceberg? What if he makes brownies?
* * *
Michael: Who is number one?
Daisy: No one's ever seen him. But he once killed three ninjas. With a fingernail file.
