Rejoice, all Star Wars fans! New (partly) adventures return to the big screen. However it isn't exactly what we are used to watching, and this is notable from the opening credits as the music doesn't sound like John Williams' "Main Title".

After the events of "Revenge of the Sith" and before "A New Hope" many other things were going on, and "Rogue One" tells one of them. Galen Erso, a research scientist who doesn't want to continue working on the unfinished Death Star, is in hiding with his family. However, Imperial Director Orson Krennic eventually finds him, while his daughter Jyn escapes. More than ten years later, a holographic message from Galen gives the Rebel Alliance hope to ruin the terrible weapon capable of destroying entire planets.

The revolution is raging, nothing can stop it. What is very remarkable for "Rogue One" is its realism: there are almost no Jedi Knights (but we can say "hello" to Sith Lord Vader a few times), so the story focuses on ordinary people - rebels and stormtroopers. Yes, Chirrut Îmwe's words ("I'm one with the Force, the Force is with me") make us remember that we still watch Star Wars, but also let us understand the scales of the war. Many deaths (even too many for this film series), thousands of explosions, millions of shots - all these things remind us that Star Wars aren't only about the Force, they're also about hope.

Unfortunately, I can't say that characters turns out very catching, but they're not paper ones. All of them are soldiers who fight for the idea and are ready to die for it. This way performances of Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker are a joy to watch. And, of course, the appearance of Peter Cushing (at least the digital likeness) becomes a great Easter Egg.

To sum it up, I'd like to say the following: the film differs from the classic Star Wars but it doesn't mean it's a failure. No, exactly no, it's just, to make the story short, not about the Skywalkers, it's about the Rebel Alliance. So I do recommend to go to cinema and enjoy the film, its amazing special effects, wonderful music and good acting.
