"Sicario" is an action crime drama film directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Taylor Sheridan. The story is about a principled FBI agent who is enlisted by a government task force to bring down the leader of a powerful and brutal Mexican drug cartel.

Cast
  • Emily Blunt as Kate Macer
  • Benicio del Toro as Alejandro Gillick
  • Josh Brolin as Matt Graver
  • Daniel Kaluuya as Reggie Wayne
  • Maximiliano Hernández as Silvio
  • Victor Garber as Dave Jennings
  • Jon Bernthal as Ted
  • Jeffrey Donovan as Steve Forsing
  • Raoul Trujillo as Rafael
  • Julio Cedillo as Fausto Alarcon
  • Hank Rogerson as Phil Coopers
  • Bernardo P. Saracino as Manuel Diaz

Probably the topic of "Sicario" is just not very interesting for me as I've stayed unimpressed after watching the film. To do justice, I must admit that the picture is shot very well, acting is also on the level - especially I want to mention Emily Blunt as conscientious Kate Macer, Benicio del Toro as dreadful Alejandro Gillick and charismatic Josh Brolin as always calm Matt Graver. But personally for me, that's all.

Advantages
  • Emily Blunt as Kate Macer
  • Benicio del Toro as Alejandro Gillick
  • Josh Brolin as Matt Graver
  • Victor Garber as Dave Jennings

Disadvantages
  • Slow moving

"Strangenesses"
  • Isn't Kate too faithful?

Clue Moments
  • An FBI SWAT raid
  • Sonora Cartel lieutenant Manuel Díaz
  • Texas
  • The bar
  • The corruption
  • The truth about Alejandro
  • The shot

According to the director Denis Villeneuve, the movie was conceived at the height of the violence in Juárez in 2010. According to Sebastian Rotella, Sicario examined many aspects of the war on drugs engaged by the United States against, most generally, drug cartels in Mexico, and Central, and South America. Taking a perspective as an American, he notes that the illegal drug trafficking situation in Mexico has remained largely stagnant in the two decades prior to the film's release, and that the film asserts that the American War on Drugs is "turning us into the very monsters we are trying to defeat." Rotella asserts that progress has been made in Mexico, and expresses qualms over the depiction of the movie's "black ops campaign", relative to his experience that most U.S. operations resulted in the arrest and prosecution of drug lords.
