"Locke" is a drama film written and directed by Steven Knight. The story is about a man who has made a mistake which fully changes his life.

  • Tom Hardy as Ivan Locke
  • Ruth Wilson as Katrina (voice)
  • Olivia Colman as Bethan (voice)
  • Andrew Scott as Donal (voice)
  • Ben Daniels as Gareth (voice)
  • Tom Holland as Eddie (voice)
  • Bill Milner as Sean (voice)
  • Danny Webb as Cassidy (voice)
  • Alice Lowe as Sister Margaret (voice)
  • Silas Carson as Dr. Gullu (voice)
  • Lee Ross as PC Davids (voice)
  • Kirsty Dillon as Gareth's wife (voice)

"Locke" is the second film of Steven Kinight as director. His picture turned out really impressive despite the fact that its location was... limited. Tom Hardy, the only actor who appeared on screen, performed greatly, sure. All he could do was the work with emotions and intonations that's even harder than just act, in my opinion. Other actors, like Andrew Scott, made the atmosphere that helped to get to know the story of the main character in words.

Advantages
  • Tom Hardy as Ivan Locke
  • Andrew Scott as Donal
  • A confined space

Disadvantages
  • A viewer can't get to know how everything will end

"Strangenesses"
  • Talking to himself

Clue Moments
  • Concrete
  • Ivan's father
  • Childbirth
  • A football match

How many things may happen in one night? Childbirth, a discharge, a football match, quarrels, problems... One moment can change everything and give problems, make events that decides the career. No occurrence are fated - and that's life. And that's concrete.

Trying to be better than his father - it's the main Ivan motivation. Locke wants to do his best to choose right answers, to be someone. And yes, it's difficult, but life depends on these choices which make a personality.

Quotations
* * *
Ivan Locke: I want to know that I'm not driving in one direction.
* * *
Ivan Locke: Well hear this, Gareth. When I left the site just over two hours ago, I had a job, a wife, a home. And now I have none of those things. I have none of those things left. I just have myself and the car that I'm in. And I'm just driving and that's it.
* * *
Ivan Locke: You make one mistake, Donal, one little f*cking mistake, and the whole world comes crashing down around you.
* * *
Ivan Locke: Donal, don't trust God when it comes to concrete.
* * *
Ivan Locke: Do it for the piece of sky we are stealing with our building. You do it for the air that will be displaced, and most of all, you do it for the f*cking concrete. Because it is delicate as blood.
* * *
Ivan Locke: Look. Look and f*cking learn. I drove in this direction and there will be a new person when I get there. Yes, because of that night. Constructed out of two bottles of wine and somebody feeling lonely. How could you ever beat that for a construction?
* * *
Bethan: Be quick!
Ivan Locke: Yes, but there are speed limits!
* * *
Ivan Locke: No matter what the situation is, you can make it good.
* * *
Ivan Locke: I'll explain when I'm not driving and when I'm with you and Eddie together, you know? I, uh, I've only just explained it to myself.
