"Gone Girl" is a mystery thriller drama film directed by David Fincher and adapted by Gillian Flynn from her 2012 novel of the same name. The story is about Nick Dunne, whose wife Amy has gone missing. People think that exactly the husband is guilty of her disappearance but is that the truth?

I was looking forward to the film as I'm keen on works of David Fincher. He's famous for multilevel stories that have many secret passages. They touch on people who are tired with their daily routine and try to find ways to change it. Moreover, Fincher show a confrontation between a personality and cooperative society. As was, for example, "Fight Club" (1999), so is "Gone Girl".

The acting of Ben Affleck is notable: he absolutely coped with the role of a man who is accused of disappearance of his wife. The part of Rosamund Pike perfectly amazed me! Despite Amy's mental illness, she planned a blameless crime that must be reputable, strange as it may appear.

Advantages
  • Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne
  • Rosamund Pike as Amy Elliott-Dunne
  • Neil Patrick Harris as Desi Collings
  • Unexpected twists

Disadvantages
  • A little slow moving

"Strangenesses"
  • When love is over, a partnership starts

Clue Moments
  • Proceedings
  • The disappearance
  • Killing

In the beginning, I was on the wife's side: "What a terrible man is her husband! Firstly, he treated her as an object and then killed her!" But an hour later my thoughts were changed: "Hey, Amy is completely insane!" All in all, I came to a conclusion that both Nick and Amy cost each other. A good Jack makes a good Gill.

But much interest is behind in relationships of the family and publicity. Mass media will never know what exactly happened therefore they will always believe in the lie thought up by Nick and Amy. As Amy said they both were accomplices. This way, Nick and Amy will always keep secrets of each other and pretend to be a happy family.

Quotations
* * *
Amy Dunne: What's the laptop for?
Nick Dunne: Laptopping!
* * *
Nick Dunne: When I think of my wife, I always think of the back of her head. I picture cracking her lovely skull, unspooling her brain, trying to get answers. The primal questions of a marriage: What are you thinking? How are you feeling? What have we done to each other? What will we do?
* * *
Officer Jim Gilpin: You ever hear the expression the simplest answer is often the correct one?
Detective Rhonda Boney: Actually, I have never found that to be true.
* * *
Margo Dunne: Everyone knows that 'complicated' is a code word for b*tch.
* * *
Amy Dunne: When two people love each other and they can't make that work, that's the real tragedy.
* * *
Nick Dunne: Go, you're my voice of reason. I need you with me on this.
Margo Dunne: Of course I'm with you. I was with you before we were even born.
* * *
Amy Dunne: Nick Dunne took my pride and my dignity and my hope and my money. He took and took from me until I no longer existed. That's murder.
* * *
Amy Dunne: You think you'd be happy with a nice Midwestern girl? No way, baby! I'm it.
* * *
Sharon Schieber: Nick Dunne. You're probably the most hated man in America right now. Did you kill your wife, Nick?
* * *
Nick Dunne: All I'm trying to do is being nice to the people who are volunteering to help find Amy.
