"Passengers" is a mystery romantic drama film directed by Rodrigo García. It tells the story of a psychotherapist, Claire Summers, who has to treat a group of survivors of a plane crash. At first everything goes normally but then strange events, such disappearances of group members, transpire. And Claire starts to think that all these things are linked to the catastrophe. However, in what way?

Cast
  • Anne Hathaway as Claire Summers
  • Patrick Wilson as Eric Clark
  • Andre Braugher as Perry
  • Dianne Wiest as Toni
  • David Morse as Arkin
  • William B. Davis as Eric's grandfather
  • Ryan Robbins as Dean
  • Clea DuVall as Shannon

Rodrigo García is the director of the film whose other works are, for example, "Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her" (2000), and "Nine Lives" (2005). His "Passengers" has an unexpected ending and a good cast but that's all what I can note. As I see it, this film is for once or probably twice but no more.

Anne Hathaway has the role of Claire Summers. It's a usual and ordinary character that is also too simple for such a talented actress like Anne. So it isn't surprising that Hathaway coped with the task.

Patrick Wilson. His charm - is what makes the film not so bad. And I may say that his character is the most interesting one in "Passengers". Eric exhibits symptoms that suggest he is suppressing his true feelings about the crash by making major life changes. However, as time goes by he realises what has happened.

Advantages
  • Anne Hathaway as Claire Summers
  • The twisted plot
Disadvantages
  • The film is one-time

"Strangenesses"
  • Many inconsistencies

Clue Moments
  • The dog
  • The crash of airplane
  • Claire's sister

Everything in this life depends on the side from what we see the situation. What was black can turn out white and vice versa. And it's important to mention that one problem should have several possible solutions. This way any difficult question may become easier if we look at it differently.

Quotations
* * *
Toni: Life is a moment, spread your wings and fly!
* * *
Eric: What is scary about commitment is that your life becomes real. It is not a plan, it is not what you had hoped for - it is real.
* * *
Claire Summers: "The truth heals." Who said that?
Perry: I don't know. Some dead, white guy.
Claire Summers: No. You.
