"Kick-Ass" is a superhero action comedy romance film based on the comic book of the same name, which is written by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr., and directed by Matthew Vaughn. The story is about an ordinary guy, Dave, with an extraordinary desire: he wants to be a real-life superhero and help people. So he purchases a bodysuit and, after making some modifications, starts to make his dream come true. But Dave even doesn't imagine how it's difficult to be a hero and what will happen to him in the near future...

Matthew Vaugh, the director of this movie, has also participated in filmmaking of "Layer Cake", "Stardust" and "X-Men: First Class". As I've always been a fan of comics, one day I decided to watch a screen version of "Kick-Ass". It had been a parody on stories of superheroes therefore I resolved that it would not be out of place to see it. Frankly speaking, I didn't regret - it was time well-spent. Of course, it had some blue jokes like any teenage comedy but I turned a blind eye to that and enjoyed a film. There are also many fights and actions.
The cast particularly consists of young actors. For example, this film opened me Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Maybe the role of Kick-Ass isn't the most cherished one but it's pretty interesting: a shy guy without any superpowers wants to become a real hero. Chloë Grace Moretz has been earlier known for me by the film "Let Me In". I can't deny that she shows promise as an actress because she's indisputably talented. Her Hit-Girl turned out really strong and full of energy. I've already seen Christopher Mintz-Plasse in "Fright Night". His acting is quite good but now I'm not able to say more. And there you also can see Nicolas Cage. He's a fantastic actor and one of my favourite ones. However, I don't think that this role is worth his talent.
"Strangenesses"
Advantages
- Aaron Taylor-Johnson as David "Dave" Lizewski/ Kick-Ass
- Mark Strong as Frank D'Amico
- Chloë Grace Moretz as Mindy Macready / Hit-Girl
- Nicolas Cage
Disadvantages
- Just a teenage comedy
"Strangenesses"
- And who is a hero?
Clue Moments
- Death
- The fall
- Tortures
The film is colourful, vibrant, funny and instructive at the same time. All of these bright colours hide a real meaning: you should be who you want and you shouldn't draw your attention to the public opinion. Yes, really - if you have a dream, let it come true. The most important things in life are being yourself, doing what you actually want and spending time with loved people. In my opinion, it's a secret of happiness. And then some, revenge almost
always dazzles a person. A slakeless vengeance can make go crazy and forget
about any danger.

Dave
Lizewski: In the world I lived in, heroes only existed in comic
books. And I guess that'd be okay, if bad guys were make-believe too, but
they're not.
Dave
Lizewski: With no power, comes no responsibility. Except, *that* wasn't
true.
Dave
Lizewski: I always wondered why nobody did it before me. I mean, all those
comic books, movies, TV shows. You think that one eccentric loner would've made
himself a costume. I mean, is everyday life really so exciting? Are schools and
offices so thrilling that I'm the only one who fantasised about this? Come on,
be honest with yourself. At some point in our lives we all wanna be a
superhero.
* * *
Dave
Lizewski: Kick-Ass was gone but not forgotten. And my world was
a lot safer with the new generation of superheroes. They said I was their
inspiration. But all I did was open a door to a world I'd dreamed about since I
was a little kid.
* * *
Dave
Lizewski: Like most people my age, I just existed.
* * *
Frank
D'Amico: I gotta send a public service message to the people out there that
being a superhero is bad for your health.
* * *
Frank
D'Amico: God I wish I had a son like you... time for the family reunion!
