"The Woman in Black" is a drama horror thriller film directed by James Watkins and is based on Susan Hill's novel of the same name. A widowed lawyer, Arthur Kipps, goes to a village as he has to sell Eel Marsh House, which is situated on an island. So he visits this place to examine the papers left by dead owner - Alice Drablow. While Arthur is staying here, he's distracted by odd noises, and subsequently, the appearance of a spectral entity in funerary garb. Upon his return to the village, the locals blame the death of their children on Arthur because he saw the alleged "Woman in Black".

James Watkins, the director of the film, has been known by a cruel but realistic work "Eden Lake". As for this movie, it's remarkable for this atmosphere: the United Kingdom at the beginning of the twentieth century, an old house, an evil spirit, and an interesting legend. I'm a horror-lover, so I may say that this film is pretty scary at times.
Daniel Radcliffe, who is known to everyone by his work in screen versions of "Harry Potter", didn't act really well. His character turned out not convincing, and what a pity! I can't but hope is just the beginning and then he'll get a chance to show his talent.

The Woman in Black is a folklore figure in the mythologies of many countries. Generally she looks like a decrepit old woman: she's humpbacked with fiery and unfathomable eyes. And of course she wears black clothes. One her stare can make a person have a heart in boots. Moreover, her appearance symbolises a forthcoming misfortune. So exactly this look often has the most pitiless power - Death.
And I also want to say some words about the end of this film. Maybe the Woman in Black decided to return Arthur's kindness instead of the version that she resolved to revenge. And what is more, probably a life without dear people loses meaning for someone. Therefore it's better to get know does reincarnation or reunification of souls exist.
