"Blue Jasmine" is one of not many Woody Allen's drama films. It turned full of nostalgia, hope and disappointments. The film is in the style of Allen: light, beautiful and a little sad. That's what I love. The questions that are brought up in the picture make reflect during and after watching.

Acting of all cast members deserves high praise. Cate Blanchett as a neurotic divorced woman who has to change her lifestyle performs incomparably. Bobby Cannavale's character seems comical and dramatic at the same time. Sally Hawkins as a naive and kind Jasmine's sister looks very believable.

Advantages
  • Alec Baldwin as Hal Francis
  • Cate Blanchett as Jeanette "Jasmine" Francis
  • Bobby Cannavale as Chili
  • Michael Stuhlbarg as Dr. Flicker

Disadvantages
  • Sudden flashbacks

"Strangenesses"
  • Today you have everything, tomorrow - nothing

Clue Moments
  • Going crazy
  • Going to prison
  • A new romance

Vanished hopes, the past that will never return, an other name, the present filled with lies, a work on yourself... What is it? It's just life. It always changes, stops at no time, gives opportunities, takes away chances. Sounds crazy but it's absolutely normal. Life can't be constant and that's the fact to make up a mind. All things must pass.

People often build walls to save themselves from problems and other things they don't want to solve or accept. Is it right? I don't think so: life usually broke these barriers and make see the truth, even when people disagree with this fact and do their best to defend against it.

Quotations
* * *
Jasmine: Anxiety, nightmares and a nervous breakdown, there's only so many traumas a person can withstand until they take to the streets and start screaming.
* * *
Augie: Some people, they don't put things behind so easily.
* * *
Jasmine: Who do you have to sleep with around here to get a Stoli martini with a twist of lemon?
* * *
Jasmine: It's fraught with peril. They gossip, you know, they talk. I saw Danny. Yes, did I tell you? He's getting married. A weekend in Palm Beach means I can wear... what could I wear? I can wear the Dior dress I bought in Paris. Yes, my black dress. Well, Hal always used to surprise me with jewelry. Extravagant pieces. I think he used to buy them at auction. It's so obvious what you're doing. You think I don't know. French au pair. This was playing on the Vineyard. Blue Moon. I used to know the words. I used to know the words. Now they're all a jumble.
* * *
Ginger: He was a handsome guy with money. He was a smooth talker and pampered her. What's she gonna say? No?
* * *
Jasmine: But that's all history boys, I met someone, I'm a new person.
* * *
Jasmine: Tip big boys, tip big because you get good service and they count on tips.
